Location Guide
First, envision what you want your images to look like;
Do you want the focus more on you, the subject? A studio session, or in-home session will work best!
Maybe you're wanting a sweeping, wide set backdrop like a grassy field lined with gorgeous tree lines,
A true West Coast feel with driftwood and vast ocean, or a cozy in your home session.
The starting point to your session is your location.
Below I've included my most requested locations, but we aren't limited to only these locations. If you don't see what you're looking for, we can discuss other options!
Time and Lighting
Golden Hour is the best time of day for lighting for outdoor sessions, it is the hour that surrounds sunrise and sunset.
All locations are ideal during this time as the lighting is softer, creating less shadowing on faces.
I am more than happy to have sessions outside of this timeframe, but locations will be suggested towards those with open-shade, forests, in home etc.
If younger children are attending your session, it may fall outside of their sleep schedule and that is something to consider while choosing a location. If a sleep schedule is important to you, you may want to choose a location that is ideal at any time of day. Ex: Forest, In-Your Home, Treed areas or locations with structures that are usable backdrops (ex: Hatley Castle)
On that note, I'm happy to have your session at anytime of day, at any location but it will result in your images looking more shadowed than that you see in my portfolio. I am happy to send along a gallery of mid-day sessions in the sun for you to view to consider!
